“There are currently two very different Phase 3 Marvel Cinematic Universe installments in production, in the forms of Spider-Man: Homecoming and Thor: Ragnarok. Both films were previewed during Marvel’s panel at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, with the footage shown from Homecoming painting Jon Watts’ Spider-Man film as very much being the “John Hughes high school comedy set in the MCU” that most everyone associated with the project has described it as. Meanwhile, the Ragnarok “sizzle reel” struck a decidedly tongue in cheek tone that seems appropriate for a superhero movie that is being directed by What We Do in the Shadows and Hunt for the Wilderpeople filmmaker, Taika Waititi.
Waititi has now posted a screenshot from the Ragnarok teaser that was shown at Comic-Con online, possibly offering a taste of the type of comedy that fans can expect from his Thor film in the process. Meanwhile, Ragnarok costar Tessa Thompson (Dear White People,Creed) has provided the online masses with a teaser of the weapon wielded by her character in the movie, Valkyrie.
The Thor: Ragnarok Comic-Con teaser (read our full description) started off with a comedy sketch that “explained” what Thor was up to during the events of Captain America: Civil War earlier this year. Among other things, the God of Thunder was revealed to be actively investigating the mysterious Thanos (Josh Brolin) – and Waititi has now posted the drawing that Thor made of The Mad Titan in the footage to his Instagram account…”
