“The veil of mystery over Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was hitched up, just a little, at Star Wars Celebration Europe, when director Gareth Edwards took to the stage at the ExCeL London conference centre to reveal some behind the scenes footage of the film and a sneak peek at its first full-blooded trailer.
He was joined on stage by Felicity Jones, who plays Jyn Erso, the head of a Rebel Alliance team charged with stealing the plans to the original Death Star, and supporting stars Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Alan Tudyk, Mads Mikkelsen, who plays Jyn’s father Galen, Forest Whitaker, who plays her Jedi-trained mentor Saw Gerrera, and Ben Mendelsohn, who plays Imperial military director Orson Krennic and arrived in full costume flanked by an honour guard of gleaming Death Troopers.

Darth Vader’s definitely in it, and we’ve seen him, and he talks in the voice we already know and love
Gareth Edwards, Rogue One’s director, revealed that after the film wrapped in December he flew to New York with an engineer from Skywalker Sound to record James Earl Jones’s dialogue for the film. He describes the trip as an “early Christmas present,” joking: “I can’t tell you what role he plays in the film; I don’t want to give that away…”
