“Silver Sable Comic Book Film May Start Moving Forward at Sony”

“Superhero movies are big business these days. Four have hit theaters already this year with two more – Suicide Squad andDoctor Strange – coming before the New Year. While Spider-Man fans are still beaming from his crossover into Marvel Studios’Captain America: Civil War, all eyes are turned to his solo adventure, Spider-Man: Homecoming. Other than the inclusion of Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man, it’s unclear how Marvel’s universe will fit around this iteration of the character.

But the MCU version of Spider-Man isn’t the only Spider-related property on the docket. Sony is also working on an Animated Spider-Man project which may or may not be starring alt-Spidey, Miles Morales. Rumors are also bubbling that the ousted Spider-Man executive producers, Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach, are pushing for a solo Venom movie, as “a franchise apart from and unrelated to” the continuity of the current Tom Holland iteration of Spider-Man.

In the newest episode of Meet the Movie Press, (at the 16:25 minute mark) host Jeff Sneider dropped another Spider-rumor. According to Sneider, Sony has been in talks with screenwriter Abi Morgan (Shame & The Invisible Woman) in attempts to get a Silver Sable film off the ground. Sneider points out that emails during the infamous Sony leak had already shown there was interest in the character, but this is the first movement we’ve seen since then…”
