“ABC’s Agent Carter is currently facing an uncertain future. Between the modest ratings and star Hayley Atwell’s recent commitment to another TV pilot, speculation is that the Marvel series could be on the chopping block. But fans of the show shouldn’t lose hope just yet. According to producers, there’s a chance that the heroine could live on in future seasons of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, if Agent Carter is eventually officially canceled.
While Agent Carter has garnered critical acclaim throughout its two seasons, it’s never exactly been a ratings powerhouse. Since then, the shown has drawn a season average of 2.7 million viewers and a 0.79 demo score. Given those fledgling numbers, it’s no surprise that Agent Carter‘s shot at a season three renewal is far from a sure thing.
As of now, ABC has yet to make a decision on Agent Carter’s fate. “There’s always that possibility,” Tancharoen said when asked if there’s room for Agent Carter in the S.H.I.E.L.D universe.
While there are no current plans to combine the two worlds, Whedon says there are plenty of ties between the shows that could potentially be explored. “We are in an old SSR base, and Agent Carter founded SHIELD. There’s definitely a direct line between the two,” he told THR…”
