“Ocean’s Eleven Gets All-Female Cast Remake Starring Sandra Bullock”

“Following Hollywood’s latest trend of rebooting older, male-lead movies with an all-female cast, Indiewire is reporting that Sandra Bullock has reportedly signed on to star in the remake of Steven Soderbergh’s Ocean’s Eleven.

Soderbergh, original star George Clooney and producer Jerry Weintraub kickstarted the project last year, but the film only started gaining momentum recently. Hunger Games director Gary Ross has reportedly signed on to direct the feature.

The film was alluded to in a leaked email from executive Amy Pascal during the Sony hack last December, but despite that, has been kept under wraps until now.

It still isn’t clear just how connected the remake will be to Soderbergh’s version — or if it will be connected at all — but rumor has it that Clooney may reprise his role as Danny Ocean for a brief cameo. Considering how close he and Bullock are as friends and co-workers, it’s not completely implausible.

Although there aren’t many more details on when the film is expected to begin shooting or who will star alongside Bullock, Indiewire did confirm that a screenwriter has been attached.

Ocean’s Eleven is the most recent film to get an all-female remake, following Sony’s Ghostbusters, which is currently in production, and stars Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Kristen Wiig and Leslie Jones.

Soderbergh’s 2001 film is currently available to stream on Netflix.”
